God's holiness is revealed in the dignity of every human being.

In our sacramental life of communal prayer, God forms us to serve one another, our neighbor, and the stranger.

Nestled in the busy, urban world of Uptown Seattle, St. Paul’s is a spiritual home for those seeking a soulful, skillful, and integrated Christian community that engages all senses in prayer and song and says “Yes, here we are!” to God’s call to mission alongside God’s people in the city.

We are a progressive, socially active Episcopal Anglo-Catholic parish that affirms the God-given dignity of all people. We are centered in the depth and power of rich and ancient prayer, liturgy, and music. Within this experience, our diverse, some would even say “funky,” community fervently praises the Holy Three, receiving from God both comfort and challenge. God is both transcendent and immanent in the profundity of symbolic actions, readings, prayers, singing, silence, and stillness; and God continually sends us out from that liturgy to proclaim the Good News to others in lives of contemplation, compassion, and action.

We gather on Sundays as God’s people; some in jeans, others more dressed up; some single, some married or partnered; some with children and some not; some queer, gay, lesbian, bisexual, or transgender, and some straight; some from an Episcopal Church background and many more from other (or no) church backgrounds. We fully use the treasures of the Episcopal Church’s Book of Common Prayer (1979) as well as the Book of Occasional Services, The Hymnal 1982, and music chosen from other carefully selected sources. We cultivate our partnership with other churches in the Episcopal Diocese of Olympia (western Washington) and the larger Episcopal Church and Worldwide Anglican Communion.

We are a community that values Christian formation, the arts, the presence of children in our midst, and the ever-challenging call to act on our baptismal identity, engaging in concrete actions that contribute to justice and peace in the world, and particularly in our immediate neighborhood.

Our membership includes persons who live in Uptown and several other neighborhoods of Seattle, and friends of the parish far and wide (some overseas!). We also number among our members many unsheltered residents of Uptown Seattle who live and serve alongside us.

Paul, our patron saint, was often on the move, traveling from city to city and reflecting theologically on every dimension of community life. We strive to share his passion, conviction, and profound love for all people.

We would love to see you, and hope to welcome you warmly.
