In November 2020, the Vestry formally commissioned St. Paul’s Anti-Racism Commission (ARC) to lead the parish into living the Anti-Racism Covenant adopted at Diocesan Convention 2020. This covenant, which we first prayed together during Pentecost 2021, covers a variety of laments and covenants that our Diocese and parish are committed to working out faithfully in our own contexts.
We invite you to reflect on what these laments and covenants look like in our worshipping community, as well as in your personal life.
Flowing out of the covenant is our land acknowledgement:
St. Paul’s Episcopal Church (Seattle) acknowledges that we gather on the traditional and unceded land of the Coast Salish Peoples, especially the Duwamish. We honor with gratitude the land itself and the Duwamish Tribe, past and present.
As you encounter and sit with the statement, we invite you to give feedback via this Google form. You feedback will be taken into consideration, culminating in an opportunity for parish dialogue on 9/12 — more information to come!
